Local Area
The heart of the friendly village of Twyning has
a shop, church, children's play area, hairdressers and two village pubs, one of which is
situated next to the River Avon and offers seasonal boat trips.
Nearby leisure facilities include horse riding, lake fishing, golfing and excellent walks.
Historic Tewkesbury (3 miles) with its medieval
black and white timber framed buildings and delightful alleyways offers many
pubs, restaurants, a swimming pool and a cinema/theatre. The 12th century Abbey
that dominates the town with its impressive Norman architecture is full of
interest.
The many attractions of Cheltenham, Gloucester, Malvern
and Worcester are only about 20 minutes' drive, with Stratford-upon-Avon,
Birmingham and Bristol just a little further afield.
For family days out there is the nearby Forest of Dean, Bristol Zoo, West Midlands Safari Park,
Cotswold Wildlife Park, Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre, Cotswold
Farm Park, The Shambles Victorian Village, Clearwell Caves and many other
attractions.
The famous Severn Valley steam railway and
Toddington GWR are within easy reach, as are Cheltenham Racecourse, Worcester
County Cricket Club and the Three Counties Showground. Other local places of
interest
include Hailes Abbey, Sudeley Castle at Winchcombe and splendid views and walks
on the Malvern Hills.
The picturesque Cotswold villages of Bourton-on-the-Water, Moreton-in-Marsh,
Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway, Chipping Campden and the
Slaughters are all within easy reach and are well worth a visit.
